The Engineering Department is responsible for the implementation of, or coordination of, the engineering studies, conceptual plans, and construction plan designs, as well as rights-of-way and easement acquisitions for most of the public infrastructure improvements for the City. The majority of the study and design projects are contracted to various consulting firms. The negotiation for and the recommendation of these engineering services contracts is the Engineering Department’s responsibility.
MACK HATCHER PARKWAY
The City is evaluating a possible shift in the Mack Hatcher Parkway alignment south of S.R. 96 West. The following links show the existing alignment, as set by TDOT, and the proposed shift. The reasons for proposing the shift are because the existing alignment will leave an undevelopable strip of property that will be additional ROW to acquire and conflicts with Westhaven’s approved concept plan. As part of the study to shift the alignment, ecological, environmental, and noise impacts were reviewed. The study indicated the proposed shift would not negatively impact the area.
